December 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3925 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3585 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2095 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Telik Inc (NASDAQ:TELK), CombiMatrix Corp (NASDAQ:CBMX), Uni-Pixel Inc (NASDAQ:UNXL), Reed's Inc (NASDAQ:REED), AFRICA OIL CORP (OTC:AOIFF), (OTC:ASUV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  TELK $-0.300 -15.46% 83,487 31.09% 185,012 68.91% -101,525 -3,384
  CBMX $-1.510 -14.59% 578,184 46.19% 658,524 52.61% -80,340 -532
  UNXL $-1.540 -10.19% 459,137 45.52% 528,022 52.34% -68,885 -447
  REED $-0.860 -13.83% 186,776 40.37% 274,274 59.28% -87,498 -1,017
  AOIFF $-0.609 -7.89% 64,310 31.70% 78,386 38.64% -14,076 -231
  ASUV $-0.340 -22.08% 135,420 25.23% 235,350 43.85% -99,930 -2,939
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TELK with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.30000 and a Friction Factor of -3,384 shares. That means that it only took 3,384 more shares of selling than buying to move TELK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
