December 10, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4068 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3029 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2618 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Oclaro Inc (NASDAQ:OCLR), Good Times Restaurants Inc (NASDAQ:GTIM), CASH STORE FINANCIAL/THE (NYSE:CSFS), Bridgeline Digital Inc (NASDAQ:BLIN), Zogenix Inc (NASDAQ:ZGNX), Northquest Ltd (NYSE:NQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  OCLR $-0.320 -17.92% 685,583 37.69% 1,129,213 62.08% -443,630 -13,863
  GTIM $-0.510 -18.61% 52,934 45.14% 64,335 54.86% -11,401 -224
  CSFS $-0.850 -19.91% 50,168 21.51% 93,145 39.94% -42,977 -506
  BLIN $-0.240 -14.29% 92,511 25.97% 241,803 67.88% -149,292 -6,221
  ZGNX $-1.190 -50.42% 7,292,068 47.82% 7,949,933 52.14% -657,865 -5,528
  NQ $-0.640 -10.42% 393,361 32.07% 406,251 33.12% -12,890 -201
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows OCLR with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.32000 and a Friction Factor of -13,863 shares. That means that it only took 13,863 more shares of selling than buying to move OCLR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
