December 3, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4308 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2361 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3038 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SUPERVALU Inc (NYSE:SVU), Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:CYCC), Alphatec Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ATEC), Diagnocure Inc (AMEX:CUR), Cambium Learning Group Inc (NASDAQ:ABCD), Sequans Communications SA (NYSE:SQNS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SVU $0.270 11.34% 3,501,597 45.97% 2,370,200 31.12% 1,131,397 41,904
  CYCC $0.950 18.30% 251,136 55.75% 197,504 43.85% 53,632 565
  ATEC $0.190 11.11% 426,045 59.47% 290,400 40.53% 135,645 7,139
  CUR $0.260 20.80% 1,447,631 33.42% 1,345,098 31.05% 102,533 3,944
  ABCD $0.160 17.20% 41,244 61.12% 26,231 38.88% 15,013 938
  SQNS $0.820 55.41% 381,673 32.98% 359,008 31.02% 22,665 276
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SVU with a dollar gain Monday of $0.27000 and a Friction Factor of 41,904 shares. That means that it only took 41,904 more shares of buying than selling to move SVU higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
