On Wednesday there were 4135 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3009 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2277 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc (NASDAQ:GMCR), Retalix Ltd (NASDAQ:RTLX), Sauer Danfoss Inc (NYSE:SHS), Trina Solar Ltd (NYSE:TSL), Vermillion Inc (NASDAQ:VRML), SuperMedia Inc (NASDAQ:SPMD). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GMCR $7.900 27.29% 15,271,762 51.91% 13,962,558 47.46% 1,309,204 1,657 RTLX $7.600 34.70% 313,308 51.97% 260,078 43.14% 53,230 70 SHS $13.030 33.09% 1,231,591 37.21% 1,056,628 31.92% 174,963 134 TSL $0.480 20.60% 2,007,158 37.18% 1,942,149 35.98% 65,009 1,354 VRML $0.470 39.50% 1,432,471 50.58% 1,383,209 48.84% 49,262 1,048 SPMD $0.380 20.54% 122,867 55.74% 97,066 44.03% 25,801 679Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GMCR with a dollar gain Wednesday of $7.90000 and a Friction Factor of 1,657 shares. That means that it only took 1,657 more shares of buying than selling to move GMCR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
