November 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3494 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3901 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1193 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MEMC Electronic Materials Inc (NYSE:WFR), Hudson Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:HDSN), Extreme Networks Inc (NASDAQ:EXTR), SOLOMON GOLD CORP (NASDAQ:SGOC), (NYSE:DSLV), Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  WFR $-0.380 -14.62% 799,043 34.50% 869,142 37.52% -70,099 -1,845
  HDSN $-0.300 -8.82% 100,901 40.25% 141,261 56.35% -40,360 -1,345
  EXTR $-0.320 -9.04% 86,249 44.86% 104,702 54.46% -18,453 -577
  SGOC $-0.100 -7.81% 34,871 41.25% 49,661 58.75% -14,790 -1,479
  DSLV $-1.360 -6.38% 65,242 29.21% 70,875 31.74% -5,633 -41
  ENPH $-0.150 -5.49% 27,491 49.00% 28,612 51.00% -1,121 -75
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows WFR with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.38000 and a Friction Factor of -1,845 shares. That means that it only took 1,845 more shares of selling than buying to move WFR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
