November 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3494 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3901 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1193 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), SOUTHERN COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:SO), Radian Group Inc (NYSE:RDN), Cannon Point Resouces Ltd (NYSE:CNP), Xcel Energy Inc (NYSE:XEL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SNE $-0.060 -0.60% 519,045 33.58% 337,717 21.85% 181,328 Abnormal
  JNJ $-0.120 -0.17% 1,569,239 29.16% 1,287,464 23.92% 281,775 Abnormal
  SO $-0.230 -0.54% 928,709 32.69% 662,340 23.31% 266,369 Abnormal
  RDN $-0.020 -0.47% 655,943 45.38% 486,510 33.66% 169,433 Abnormal
  CNP $-0.090 -0.45% 473,825 38.56% 259,206 21.10% 214,619 Abnormal
  XEL $-0.110 -0.42% 406,776 35.41% 226,113 19.69% 180,663 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SNE with 181,328 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.06000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
