November 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3987 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1920 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3806 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ValueVision Media Inc (NASDAQ:VVTV), West Fraser Timber Co Ltd (NYSE:WFT), MAKO Surgical Corp (NASDAQ:MAKO), Tronox Inc (NYSE:TROX), (NYSE:DGAZ), (NYSE:HCLP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  VVTV $-0.350 -15.15% 506,299 45.09% 613,678 54.65% -107,379 -3,068
  WFT $-1.720 -15.81% 20,450,891 32.29% 20,486,664 32.35% -35,773 -208
  MAKO $-1.830 -12.59% 765,222 45.63% 909,658 54.24% -144,436 -789
  TROX $-3.470 -18.53% 3,602,575 29.51% 3,999,528 32.77% -396,953 -1,144
  DGAZ $-2.250 -13.38% 69,079 28.21% 98,554 40.25% -29,475 -131
  HCLP $-5.200 -25.55% 1,026,194 30.45% 1,059,924 31.46% -33,730 -65
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VVTV with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.35000 and a Friction Factor of -3,068 shares. That means that it only took 3,068 more shares of selling than buying to move VVTV lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
