November 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4034 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2337 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3094 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Beazer Homes USA Inc (NYSE:BZH), THQ Inc (NASDAQ:THQI), Achillion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ACHN), Clovis Oncology Inc (NASDAQ:CLVS), LifeVantage Corp (NASDAQ:LFVN), Omeros Corp (NASDAQ:OMER). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BZH $-2.870 -17.25% 2,587,552 32.70% 2,654,804 33.55% -67,252 -234
  THQI $-0.200 -14.71% 203,591 35.51% 369,797 64.49% -166,206 -8,310
  ACHN $-1.110 -12.32% 2,414,881 45.91% 2,656,215 50.49% -241,334 -2,174
  CLVS $-8.990 -41.83% 1,586,513 48.10% 1,666,291 50.52% -79,778 -89
  LFVN $-0.390 -13.49% 308,536 35.55% 555,973 64.07% -247,437 -6,345
  OMER $-1.230 -14.96% 185,986 43.29% 242,825 56.52% -56,839 -462
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BZH with a dollar loss Monday of $-2.87000 and a Friction Factor of -234 shares. That means that it only took 234 more shares of selling than buying to move BZH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
