November 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3642 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1640 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3847 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. FalconStor Software Inc (NASDAQ:FALC), InterMune Inc (NASDAQ:ITMN), EXETER RESOURCE CORP (AMEX:XRA), ENERGYSOLUTIONS INC (NYSE:ES), TEKMIRA PHARMACEUTICALS CORP (NASDAQ:TKMR), Sequans Communications SA (NYSE:SQNS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  FALC $0.410 20.38% 275,092 64.34% 151,667 35.47% 123,425 3,010
  ITMN $1.360 16.67% 2,987,356 49.51% 2,937,273 48.68% 50,083 368
  XRA $0.320 23.19% 222,839 42.26% 126,069 23.91% 96,770 3,024
  ES $0.440 16.36% 811,371 37.30% 784,256 36.05% 27,115 616
  TKMR $0.720 16.18% 106,153 54.04% 90,074 45.86% 16,079 223
  SQNS $0.260 18.56% 58,994 36.43% 58,417 36.07% 577 22
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FALC with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.41000 and a Friction Factor of 3,010 shares. That means that it only took 3,010 more shares of buying than selling to move FALC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
