November 2, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3876 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1793 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3546 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. GENOMED INC (NYSE:GMED), Glu Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:GLUU), DOLAN COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:DM), China Hgs Real Estate Inc (NASDAQ:HGSH), Skullcandy Inc (NASDAQ:SKUL), Yelp Inc (NYSE:YELP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GMED $-3.290 -18.62% 488,612 30.87% 498,862 31.51% -10,250 -31
  GLUU $-0.610 -18.71% 4,353,853 48.79% 4,565,402 51.16% -211,549 -3,468
  DM $-0.630 -13.79% 104,662 38.09% 110,837 40.34% -6,175 -98
  HGSH $-0.460 -16.97% 521,246 47.37% 573,347 52.11% -52,101 -1,133
  SKUL $-1.660 -14.18% 694,685 43.44% 868,563 54.31% -173,878 -1,047
  YELP $-3.550 -14.77% 767,152 30.33% 873,006 34.52% -105,854 -298
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GMED with a dollar loss Friday of $-3.29000 and a Friction Factor of -31 shares. That means that it only took 31 more shares of selling than buying to move GMED lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
