October 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4020 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2200 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3057 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Deckers Outdoor Corp (NASDAQ:DECK), UQM Technologies Inc (AMEX:UQM), BioScrip Inc (NASDAQ:BIOS), CHINA HYDROELECTRIC CP-ADS (NYSE:CHC), IPC The Hospitalist Co Inc (NASDAQ:IPCM), Prospect Global Resources Inc (OTCBB:PGRX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DECK $-6.240 -17.58% 4,507,216 48.61% 4,658,684 50.24% -151,468 -243
  UQM $-0.250 -20.00% 80,143 24.98% 114,996 35.85% -34,853 -1,394
  BIOS $-1.610 -17.13% 53,503 45.46% 62,565 53.16% -9,062 -56
  CHC $-0.420 -17.50% 95,082 24.84% 105,599 27.59% -10,517 -250
  IPCM $-7.070 -16.87% 433,950 48.05% 465,357 51.53% -31,407 -44
  PGRX $-0.600 -17.75% 173,248 36.90% 287,211 61.18% -113,963 -1,899
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DECK with a dollar loss Friday of $-6.24000 and a Friction Factor of -243 shares. That means that it only took 243 more shares of selling than buying to move DECK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
