October 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4014 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1481 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3616 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. GILEAD SCIENCES, INC. (NASDAQ:GILD), Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE:CX), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO), PW EAGLE INC (OTC:PWEI), Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GILD $0.610 0.92% 3,612,830 44.64% 4,388,373 54.22% -775,543 Abnormal
  CX $0.010 0.11% 3,855,411 25.44% 5,407,705 35.68% -1,552,294 Abnormal
  INTC $0.140 0.65% 22,977,258 48.68% 24,114,257 51.09% -1,136,999 Abnormal
  YHOO $0.980 6.21% 34,591,966 48.34% 36,750,390 51.35% -2,158,424 Abnormal
  PWEI $0.012 2.39% 1,950,824 34.70% 3,045,270 54.17% -1,094,446 Abnormal
  GRPN $0.050 1.09% 5,319,514 40.25% 7,895,211 59.74% -2,575,697 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GILD with 775,543 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.61000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
