October 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4014 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1481 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3616 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Annapolis Bancorp Inc (NASDAQ:ANNB), Amarin Corp PLC (NASDAQ:AMRN), RF MICRO DEVICES, INC. (NASDAQ:RFMD), MOLINA HEALTHCARE, INC. (NYSE:MOH), Liberty Silver Corp (OTC:LBSV), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ANNB $4.040 52.13% 68,212 43.22% 51,143 32.40% 17,069 42
  AMRN $1.060 9.47% 2,798,276 52.87% 2,393,395 45.22% 404,881 3,820
  RFMD $0.620 16.32% 5,253,360 50.85% 5,033,672 48.72% 219,688 3,543
  MOH $1.910 8.46% 302,403 42.17% 190,976 26.63% 111,427 583
  LBSV $0.240 28.24% 50,656 58.16% 33,042 37.93% 17,614 734
  FB $2.720 14.07% 40,547,051 52.32% 36,681,172 47.33% 3,865,879 14,213
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANNB with a dollar gain Tuesday of $4.04000 and a Friction Factor of 42 shares. That means that it only took 42 more shares of buying than selling to move ANNB higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
