October 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3780 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2232 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3237 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CytRx Corp (NASDAQ:CYTR), School Specialty Inc (NASDAQ:SCHS), Max & Erma's Restaurant (NASDAQ:MAXE), Dex One Corp (NYSE:DEXO), SemiLEDs Corp (NASDAQ:LEDS), Clearsign Combustion Corp (NASDAQ:CLIR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CYTR $-0.610 -19.61% 1,338,053 40.58% 1,959,503 59.42% -621,450 -10,188
  SCHS $-0.300 -13.64% 42,810 21.39% 157,291 78.61% -114,481 -3,816
  MAXE $-0.221 -17.13% 153,625 23.14% 261,259 39.35% -107,634 -4,870
  DEXO $-0.160 -11.35% 109,940 23.95% 251,543 54.80% -141,603 -8,850
  LEDS $-0.190 -12.58% 96,436 42.57% 130,103 57.43% -33,667 -1,772
  CLIR $-0.940 -13.18% 31,571 29.54% 75,288 70.46% -43,717 -465
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CYTR with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.61000 and a Friction Factor of -10,188 shares. That means that it only took 10,188 more shares of selling than buying to move CYTR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
