October 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3780 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2232 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3237 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Apollo Group Inc (NASDAQ:APOL), Mannkind Corp (NASDAQ:MNKD), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Valero Energy Corp (NYSE:VLO), GenOn Energy Inc (NYSE:GEN), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  APOL $-0.230 -1.07% 4,183,556 59.97% 2,766,818 39.66% 1,416,738 Abnormal
  MNKD $-0.620 -23.93% 20,699,684 65.60% 10,786,451 34.18% 9,913,233 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.440 -1.49% 31,027,264 56.16% 23,849,018 43.17% 7,178,246 Abnormal
  VLO $-0.280 -0.93% 3,011,141 41.00% 1,788,088 24.34% 1,223,053 Abnormal
  GEN $-0.040 -1.43% 9,534,299 35.23% 4,908,413 18.14% 4,625,886 Abnormal
  QQQ $-0.840 -1.23% 30,481,560 52.45% 27,313,724 47.00% 3,167,836 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows APOL with 1,416,738 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.23000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
