October 17, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3983 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3333 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1981 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DayStar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:DSTI), Check Point Software Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:CHKP), Max & Erma's Restaurant (NASDAQ:MAXE), Sourcefire Inc (NASDAQ:FIRE), ImmunoCellular Therapeutics Ltd (OTCBB:IMUC), Identive Group Inc (NASDAQ:INVE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DSTI $-0.310 -17.13% 29,705 28.17% 75,756 71.83% -46,051 -1,486
  CHKP $-6.270 -13.22% 8,616,549 49.27% 8,729,367 49.92% -112,818 -180
  MAXE $-0.240 -15.48% 307,710 29.51% 460,345 44.15% -152,635 -6,360
  FIRE $-5.700 -11.97% 1,546,846 47.28% 1,712,526 52.34% -165,680 -291
  IMUC $-0.270 -10.93% 103,716 27.43% 140,397 37.13% -36,681 -1,359
  INVE $-0.170 -13.18% 428,244 37.63% 709,815 62.37% -281,571 -16,563
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DSTI with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.31000 and a Friction Factor of -1,486 shares. That means that it only took 1,486 more shares of selling than buying to move DSTI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
