October 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3872 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3613 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1923 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. DayStar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:DSTI), Otelco Inc (NASDAQ:OTT), Silicon Graphics International Corp (NASDAQ:SGI), Consumer Portfolio Services Inc (NASDAQ:CPSS), Premier Exhibitions Inc (NASDAQ:PRXI), Identive Group Inc (NASDAQ:INVE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DSTI $0.520 40.31% 245,962 52.40% 223,426 47.60% 22,536 433
  OTT $0.300 12.77% 247,328 56.73% 185,666 42.58% 61,662 2,055
  SGI $1.620 21.32% 80,117 55.33% 64,669 44.67% 15,448 95
  CPSS $0.480 13.59% 128,907 58.00% 93,351 42.00% 35,556 741
  PRXI $0.450 18.78% 478,721 60.81% 308,472 39.19% 170,249 3,783
  INVE $0.240 22.86% 2,966,564 50.20% 2,938,133 49.72% 28,431 1,185
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DSTI with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.52000 and a Friction Factor of 433 shares. That means that it only took 433 more shares of buying than selling to move DSTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
