October 15, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3991 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2835 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2201 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), WELLS FARGO & COMPANY (NYSE:WFC), Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO), BRIGHTPOINT, INC. (NASDAQ:CELL), American Capital Agency Corp (NASDAQ:AGNC), ARMOUR RESIDENTIAL REIT INCORPORATION (NYSE:ARR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  RAD $-0.010 -0.86% 1,870,524 18.28% 6,889,429 67.35% -5,018,905 -5,018,905
  WFC $-0.350 -1.02% 11,853,403 23.63% 15,188,035 30.28% -3,334,632 -95,275
  YHOO $-0.160 -1.03% 9,428,470 45.50% 11,015,916 53.16% -1,587,446 -99,215
  CELL $-0.010 -0.11% 881,183 21.03% 3,148,935 75.16% -2,267,752 -2,267,752
  AGNC $-0.640 -1.96% 19,448,977 46.10% 22,144,375 52.49% -2,695,398 -42,116
  ARR $-0.230 -3.26% 10,785,579 31.04% 12,589,443 36.23% -1,803,864 -78,429
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows RAD down $-0.01000 with a Friction Factor of -5,018,905 and a Net Volume of -5,018,905. That means that it takes 5,018,905 more shares of selling than buying to drop RAD by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
