October 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3813 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1811 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3228 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BioFuel Energy Corp (NASDAQ:BIOF), National Bank of Greece SA (NYSE:NBG), Save The World Air Inc (OTCBB:ZERO), Cleveland BioLabs Inc (NASDAQ:CBLI), OHR Pharmaceutical Inc (OTCBB:OHRP), TPC Group Inc (NASDAQ:TPCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BIOF $1.290 25.00% 427,014 58.90% 280,472 38.68% 146,542 1,136 NBG $0.280 11.20% 569,575 37.49% 530,656 34.93% 38,919 1,390 ZERO $0.110 10.89% 224,351 64.87% 82,193 23.77% 142,158 12,923 CBLI $0.290 12.34% 194,314 55.65% 154,874 44.35% 39,440 1,360 OHRP $0.230 15.86% 99,068 57.53% 48,925 28.41% 50,143 2,180 TPCG $5.280 12.98% 478,250 47.20% 443,392 43.76% 34,858 66Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BIOF with a dollar gain Monday of $1.29000 and a Friction Factor of 1,136 shares. That means that it only took 1,136 more shares of buying than selling to move BIOF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
