October 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4114 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2686 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2640 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Delcath Systems Inc (NASDAQ:DCTH), Life Partners Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:LPHI), Coldwater Creek Inc (NASDAQ:CWTR), Xenoport Inc (NASDAQ:XNPT), OHR Pharmaceutical Inc (OTCBB:OHRP), Currie Rose Resources Inc (NASDAQ:CUI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DCTH $0.250 13.74% 2,509,907 61.02% 1,603,421 38.98% 906,486 36,259
  LPHI $0.360 16.14% 826,339 56.40% 638,703 43.60% 187,636 5,212
  CWTR $0.430 10.94% 295,885 57.86% 215,483 42.14% 80,402 1,870
  XNPT $1.710 15.34% 624,456 49.40% 584,844 46.27% 39,612 232
  OHRP $0.170 13.28% 78,130 61.65% 47,600 37.56% 30,530 1,796
  CUI $0.700 12.50% 109,175 55.88% 81,891 41.91% 27,284 390
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DCTH with a dollar gain Friday of $0.25000 and a Friction Factor of 36,259 shares. That means that it only took 36,259 more shares of buying than selling to move DCTH higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
