October 4, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3929 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3575 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1954 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Bon-Ton Stores Inc (NASDAQ:BONT), NuVasive Inc (NASDAQ:NUVA), GENOMED INC (NYSE:GMED), Gafisa SA (NYSE:GFA), PACIFIC BOOKER MINERALS INC (AMEX:PBM), BioSante Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:BPAX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BONT $-0.910 -7.61% 264,357 49.47% 267,024 49.97% -2,667 -29
  NUVA $-7.570 -33.45% 5,225,381 46.58% 5,855,612 52.20% -630,231 -833
  GMED $-1.340 -7.30% 135,605 23.84% 185,733 32.65% -50,128 -374
  GFA $-0.320 -7.79% 1,451,542 30.41% 1,553,034 32.54% -101,492 -3,172
  PBM $-0.580 -12.53% 57,755 24.38% 76,139 32.14% -18,384 -317
  BPAX $-0.200 -11.11% 1,165,440 43.85% 1,489,652 56.05% -324,212 -16,211
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BONT with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.91000 and a Friction Factor of -29 shares. That means that it only took 29 more shares of selling than buying to move BONT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
