Market Maker Surveillance Report. FWRD, SHLM, SWSH, TSLA, GDQMF, INVN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, S
September 25, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3723 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1739 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4112 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Forward Air Corp (NASDAQ:FWRD), SCHULMAN (A) INC (NASDAQ:SHLM), Swisher Hygiene Inc (NASDAQ:SWSH), Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), GOLDQUEST MINING CORP (OTC:GDQMF), InvenSense Inc (NYSE:INVN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction FWRD $-3.970 -11.40% 352,626 44.87% 429,276 54.63% -76,650 -193 SHLM $-4.410 -17.62% 48,661 29.90% 113,851 69.95% -65,190 -148 SWSH $-0.300 -17.34% 862,708 43.44% 1,123,276 56.56% -260,568 -8,686 TSLA $-3.160 -10.31% 2,657,624 46.88% 2,731,237 48.18% -73,613 -233 GDQMF $-0.631 -33.19% 101,500 32.67% 120,200 38.69% -18,700 -296 INVN $-1.640 -11.88% 760,396 32.08% 851,510 35.92% -91,114 -556Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FWRD with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-3.97000 and a Friction Factor of -193 shares. That means that it only took 193 more shares of selling than buying to move FWRD lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
