September 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4088 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2171 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3322 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Clean Diesel Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:CDTI), Pure Bioscience (NASDAQ:PURE), Audiocodes Ltd (NASDAQ:AUDC), Rambus Inc (NASDAQ:RMBS), Savient Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SVNT), Longwei Petroleum Investment Holding Ltd (AMEX:LPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CDTI $0.380 13.67% 328,403 55.56% 262,506 44.41% 65,897 1,734 PURE $0.170 17.17% 872,564 56.11% 682,398 43.89% 190,166 11,186 AUDC $0.390 15.66% 187,838 53.81% 161,208 46.19% 26,630 683 RMBS $0.850 17.24% 2,675,596 50.32% 2,640,353 49.66% 35,243 415 SVNT $0.420 16.80% 3,815,538 53.27% 3,242,042 45.26% 573,496 13,655 LPH $0.300 24.61% 431,463 36.23% 345,052 28.98% 86,411 2,880Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CDTI with a dollar gain Monday of $0.38000 and a Friction Factor of 1,734 shares. That means that it only took 1,734 more shares of buying than selling to move CDTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
