September 21, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4058 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3311 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2221 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Microvision Inc (NASDAQ:MVIS), Blyth Inc (NYSE:BTH), Qualstar Corp (NASDAQ:QBAK), Bridgford Foods Corp (NASDAQ:BRID), Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:CYCC), Longwei Petroleum Investment Holding Ltd (AMEX:LPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MVIS $-0.330 -12.89% 482,123 48.25% 514,557 51.50% -32,434 -983
  BTH $-3.950 -10.15% 1,038,661 28.32% 1,132,344 30.88% -93,683 -237
  QBAK $-0.190 -12.03% 41,248 29.20% 99,997 70.80% -58,749 -3,092
  BRID $-1.040 -13.79% 28,810 31.92% 33,901 37.55% -5,091 -49
  CYCC $-0.610 -10.65% 128,188 38.59% 196,794 59.24% -68,606 -1,125
  LPH $-0.140 -10.37% 104,056 15.64% 338,516 50.88% -234,460 -16,747
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MVIS with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.33000 and a Friction Factor of -983 shares. That means that it only took 983 more shares of selling than buying to move MVIS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
