September 20, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3990 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2054 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3304 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Ascent Solar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:ASTI), Skyworks Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:SWKS), EDUCATION MANAGEMENT CORP (NASDAQ:EDMC), IHS INCORPORATION (NYSE:IHS), China Sunergy Co Ltd (NASDAQ:CSUN), Dehaier Medical Systems Ltd (NASDAQ:DHRM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ASTI $-0.480 -28.57% 4,611,070 48.54% 4,872,147 51.29% -261,077 -5,439
  SWKS $-5.380 -18.25% 16,265,304 48.07% 17,146,812 50.67% -881,508 -1,638
  EDMC $-0.700 -19.34% 106,141 47.44% 117,475 52.51% -11,334 -162
  IHS $-20.480 -17.77% 1,000,713 33.43% 1,040,515 34.76% -39,802 -19
  CSUN $-0.150 -12.20% 73,514 31.36% 160,927 68.64% -87,413 -5,828
  DHRM $-0.260 -14.37% 27,073 44.03% 34,420 55.97% -7,347 -283
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ASTI with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.48000 and a Friction Factor of -5,439 shares. That means that it only took 5,439 more shares of selling than buying to move ASTI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
