Market Maker Surveillance Report. ASTI, BIOF, JBSS, HNI, CLWR, NVIV, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Sep
September 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4001 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2464 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3051 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Ascent Solar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:ASTI), BioFuel Energy Corp (NASDAQ:BIOF), John B Sanfilippo & Son Inc (NASDAQ:JBSS), HNI CORPORATION (NYSE:HNI), Clearwire Corp (NASDAQ:CLWR), Invivo Therapeutics Holdings Corp (OTC:NVIV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ASTI $-0.270 -13.92% 1,128,211 42.88% 1,502,441 57.11% -374,230 -13,860 BIOF $-1.530 -14.99% 399,065 43.71% 512,223 56.11% -113,158 -740 JBSS $-1.560 -9.93% 47,857 45.01% 58,362 54.89% -10,505 -67 HNI $-4.640 -15.12% 294,460 25.95% 406,766 35.84% -112,306 -242 CLWR $-0.170 -11.04% 6,356,708 46.09% 7,435,830 53.91% -1,079,122 -63,478 NVIV $-0.220 -12.79% 160,436 20.12% 475,962 59.68% -315,526 -14,342Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ASTI with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.27000 and a Friction Factor of -13,860 shares. That means that it only took 13,860 more shares of selling than buying to move ASTI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
