September 17, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3865 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1978 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3575 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Monday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO), Altria Group Inc (NYSE:MO), Gannett Co Inc (NYSE:GCI), Merck & Co Inc (NYSE:MRK), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), Prism Medical Ltd (NYSE:PM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction KO $0.150 0.39% 10,750,675 49.01% 4,739,337 21.60% 6,011,338 400,756 MO $0.270 0.82% 5,812,226 49.45% 2,703,294 23.00% 3,108,932 115,146 GCI $0.140 0.79% 5,275,644 63.34% 1,515,791 18.20% 3,759,853 268,561 MRK $0.380 0.87% 4,702,538 43.07% 2,584,628 23.67% 2,117,910 55,734 ORCL $0.150 0.46% 14,286,417 57.93% 10,154,507 41.17% 4,131,910 275,461 PM $0.690 0.77% 11,954,947 81.51% 1,135,821 7.74% 10,819,126 156,799Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows KO with a Net Buy Volume of 6,011,338 shares and a Friction Factor of 400,756 shares. That means that it takes 400,756 more shares of buying than selling to move KO higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Monday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
