Market Maker Surveillance Report. COOL, CSGS, NRGY, NLST, TRGT, SSN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Sept
September 17, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3865 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1978 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3575 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Majesco Entertainment Co (NASDAQ:COOL), CSG Systems International Inc (NASDAQ:CSGS), Inergy LP (NYSE:NRGY), Netlist Inc (NASDAQ:NLST), Targacept Inc (NASDAQ:TRGT), Samson Oil and Gas Ltd (AMEX:SSN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction COOL $-0.170 -11.11% 530,935 44.38% 664,820 55.58% -133,885 -7,876 CSGS $-4.120 -18.17% 110,059 46.40% 126,011 53.13% -15,952 -39 NRGY $-3.100 -14.13% 228,776 34.60% 258,897 39.15% -30,121 -97 NLST $-0.200 -12.12% 277,343 36.37% 485,244 63.63% -207,901 -10,395 TRGT $-0.540 -11.13% 290,284 40.11% 432,646 59.78% -142,362 -2,636 SSN $-0.140 -11.57% 402,976 26.96% 642,935 43.01% -239,959 -17,140Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows COOL with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.17000 and a Friction Factor of -7,876 shares. That means that it only took 7,876 more shares of selling than buying to move COOL lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
