September 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4043 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3847 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1974 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BioFuel Energy Corp (NASDAQ:BIOF), Furniture Brands International Inc (NYSE:FBN), Royale Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ROYL), DARA Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:DARA), Searchlight Minerals Corp (OTCBB:SRCH), Virco Mfg Corp (NASDAQ:VIRC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BIOF $2.410 37.60% 1,486,206 49.29% 1,479,048 49.05% 7,158 30
  FBN $0.430 37.39% 571,569 40.29% 415,392 29.28% 156,177 3,632
  ROYL $0.480 19.51% 264,403 54.77% 218,307 45.23% 46,096 960
  DARA $0.220 25.27% 4,130,316 57.11% 3,101,413 42.89% 1,028,903 46,768
  SRCH $0.190 22.09% 273,730 47.10% 146,850 25.27% 126,880 6,678
  VIRC $1.190 76.77% 464,107 60.81% 293,231 38.42% 170,876 1,436
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BIOF with a dollar gain Friday of $2.41000 and a Friction Factor of 30 shares. That means that it only took 30 more shares of buying than selling to move BIOF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
