September 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4094 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3310 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2173 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Rediff Com India Ltd (NASDAQ:REDF), Otelco Inc (NASDAQ:OTT), SigmaTron International Inc (NASDAQ:SGMA), Sunesis Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SNSS), AspenBio Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:APPY), (NYSE:UGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction REDF $0.680 19.10% 361,590 50.69% 348,284 48.82% 13,306 196 OTT $0.260 16.25% 175,592 54.81% 144,753 45.19% 30,839 1,186 SGMA $0.770 20.64% 35,244 50.41% 32,975 47.16% 2,269 29 SNSS $0.850 32.20% 4,489,515 50.69% 4,344,816 49.06% 144,699 1,702 APPY $0.440 30.77% 525,346 65.29% 274,530 34.12% 250,816 5,700 UGAZ $4.320 17.64% 365,527 46.46% 249,289 31.69% 116,238 269Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows REDF with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.68000 and a Friction Factor of 196 shares. That means that it only took 196 more shares of buying than selling to move REDF higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
