September 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4076 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3523 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1937 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. International Card Establishment Inc (OTC:ICRD), Rentech Inc (AMEX:RTK), Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB), Cumulus Media Inc (NASDAQ:CMLS), NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:NIHD), Alcatel Lucent SA (NYSE:ALU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ICRD $0.027 809.09% 1,642,297 28.98% 3,622,082 63.90% -1,979,785 Abnormal
  RTK $0.030 1.31% 563,583 12.59% 2,574,909 57.52% -2,011,326 Abnormal
  FITB $0.240 1.63% 5,072,109 44.69% 6,259,501 55.15% -1,187,392 Abnormal
  CMLS $0.040 1.45% 71,567 5.55% 1,217,922 94.45% -1,146,355 Abnormal
  NIHD $0.220 3.36% 1,986,112 20.27% 7,766,210 79.27% -5,780,098 Abnormal
  ALU $0.040 3.60% 2,763,126 28.26% 3,990,486 40.82% -1,227,360 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ICRD with 1,979,785 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02670. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
