Market Maker Surveillance Report. NAV, MW, RDN, CBK, OREX, BOARF, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Sept
September 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3771 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4310 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1563 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Navistar International Corp (NYSE:NAV), Men's Wearhouse Inc (NYSE:MW), Radian Group Inc (NYSE:RDN), Christopher & Banks Corp (NYSE:CBK), Orexigen Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:OREX), BOART LONGYEAR GROUP (OTC:BOARF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NAV $3.570 17.49% 2,404,495 30.36% 2,283,422 28.83% 121,073 339 MW $6.150 19.32% 1,250,646 32.70% 1,182,417 30.92% 68,229 111 RDN $0.740 22.42% 4,457,807 39.37% 3,919,426 34.61% 538,381 7,275 CBK $0.330 12.55% 120,921 28.50% 116,904 27.56% 4,017 122 OREX $0.890 18.13% 5,076,303 51.27% 4,831,174 48.79% 245,129 2,754 BOARF $0.240 20.00% 682,823 86.69% 85,675 10.88% 597,148 24,881Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NAV with a dollar gain Thursday of $3.57000 and a Friction Factor of 339 shares. That means that it only took 339 more shares of buying than selling to move NAV higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
