Market Maker Surveillance Report. MTRX, NTE, VTNC, JRCC, MKTX, LAS, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Sep
September 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3771 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4310 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1563 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Matrix Service Co (NASDAQ:MTRX), Nam Tai Electronics Inc (NYSE:NTE), VITRAN CORP INC (NASDAQ:VTNC), James River Coal Co (NASDAQ:JRCC), MARKETAXESS HOLDINGS INC. (NASDAQ:MKTX), Lentuo International Inc (NYSE:LAS). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .
Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MTRX $-1.110 -9.64% 221,454 43.34% 286,272 56.03% -64,818 -584 NTE $-1.040 -9.25% 923,862 32.29% 1,133,616 39.62% -209,754 -2,017 VTNC $-0.430 -10.05% 188,837 24.12% 593,943 75.86% -405,106 -9,421 JRCC $-0.310 -12.45% 264,511 45.19% 320,795 54.81% -56,284 -1,816 MKTX $-3.600 -10.59% 463,492 44.03% 570,699 54.22% -107,207 -298 LAS $-0.230 -14.11% 76,979 31.48% 82,542 33.76% -5,563 -242Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MTRX with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.11000 and a Friction Factor of -584 shares. That means that it only took 584 more shares of selling than buying to move MTRX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
