September 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4042 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2195 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3083 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Bon-Ton Stores Inc (NASDAQ:BONT), Office Depot Inc (NYSE:ODP), MART RESOURCES INC (OTC:MAUXF), YRC Worldwide Inc (NASDAQ:YRCW), IMPLANT SCIENCES CORP (OTC:IMSC), Guidewire Software Inc (NYSE:GWRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BONT $2.370 24.43% 821,001 50.99% 749,831 46.57% 71,170 300
  ODP $0.310 19.25% 14,524,502 36.89% 9,852,919 25.02% 4,671,583 150,696
  MAUXF $0.136 9.97% 86,471 15.37% 84,839 15.08% 1,632 120
  YRCW $0.570 10.14% 162,637 69.09% 72,755 30.91% 89,882 1,577
  IMSC $0.230 20.54% 376,232 64.80% 118,477 20.41% 257,755 11,207
  GWRE $2.900 9.88% 952,930 33.49% 866,279 30.45% 86,651 299
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BONT with a dollar gain Wednesday of $2.37000 and a Friction Factor of 300 shares. That means that it only took 300 more shares of buying than selling to move BONT higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
