September 4, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4102 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2870 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2602 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:PPHM), NORTHERN DYNASTY MINERALS (AMEX:NAK), Chelsea Therapeutics International Ltd (NASDAQ:CHTP), Vestas Wind Systems A/S (OTC:VWDRY), Jaguar Mining Inc (NYSE:JAG), Heckmann Corp (NYSE:HEK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PPHM $0.410 16.14% 2,541,318 49.67% 2,287,894 44.71% 253,424 6,181 NAK $0.690 24.38% 510,779 30.66% 468,264 28.10% 42,515 616 CHTP $0.250 23.81% 1,025,204 51.44% 946,886 47.51% 78,318 3,133 VWDRY $0.380 16.45% 51,272 46.84% 48,981 44.74% 2,291 60 JAG $0.160 15.92% 886,549 37.70% 723,995 30.79% 162,554 10,160 HEK $1.040 38.66% 8,389,923 36.70% 7,915,717 34.63% 474,206 4,560Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PPHM with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.41000 and a Friction Factor of 6,181 shares. That means that it only took 6,181 more shares of buying than selling to move PPHM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
