August 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4043 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2486 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2816 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:PPHM), Covenant Transportation Group Inc (NASDAQ:CVTI), Mer Telemanagement Solutions Ltd (NASDAQ:MTSL), Broadwind Energy Inc (NASDAQ:BWEN), China Gerui Advanced Materials Group Ltd (NASDAQ:CHOP), Digital Domain Media Group Inc (NYSE:DDMG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PPHM $-0.320 -14.32% 3,185,637 48.53% 3,335,276 50.81% -149,639 -4,676
  CVTI $-0.650 -11.05% 35,694 37.73% 58,018 61.32% -22,324 -343
  MTSL $-0.470 -15.06% 632,722 45.74% 725,446 52.45% -92,724 -1,973
  BWEN $-0.260 -11.50% 65,216 44.47% 81,451 55.53% -16,235 -624
  CHOP $-0.210 -10.94% 293,312 44.68% 362,894 55.28% -69,582 -3,313
  DDMG $-0.400 -10.67% 79,539 24.02% 93,373 28.20% -13,834 -346
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PPHM with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.32000 and a Friction Factor of -4,676 shares. That means that it only took 4,676 more shares of selling than buying to move PPHM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
