On Friday there were 4011 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3065 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2197 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA), SYMANTEC CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SYMC), Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc (NYSE:FCX), Autodesk Inc (NASDAQ:ADSK), Zagg Inc (NASDAQ:ZAGG), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CMCSA $-0.050 -0.16% 7,990,490 56.92% 6,018,440 42.87% 1,972,050 Abnormal SYMC $-0.020 -0.14% 4,269,469 57.00% 3,148,936 42.04% 1,120,533 Abnormal FCX $-0.640 -1.74% 5,009,822 37.59% 3,766,634 28.26% 1,243,188 Abnormal ADSK $-5.460 -15.29% 18,488,316 53.73% 15,474,419 44.97% 3,013,897 Abnormal ZAGG $-0.140 -1.96% 1,805,829 48.25% 690,314 18.44% 1,115,515 Abnormal FB $-0.060 -0.31% 14,945,467 50.52% 13,590,731 45.94% 1,354,736 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 1,972,050 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
