August 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3918 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2781 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2487 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Select Medical Holdings Corp (NYSE:SEM), Diadem Resources Ltd (NYSE:DRL), Brooks Automation Inc (NASDAQ:BRKS), SAGENT Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SGNT), Boingo Wireless Inc (NASDAQ:WIFI), (OTC:GSFVF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SEM $-3.350 -24.40% 820,111 30.36% 903,268 33.44% -83,157 -248
  DRL $-0.410 -28.08% 981,610 23.40% 1,316,767 31.39% -335,157 -8,175
  BRKS $-1.990 -20.79% 97,640 47.15% 107,964 52.13% -10,324 -52
  SGNT $-4.540 -25.48% 1,429,923 41.36% 1,766,916 51.10% -336,993 -742
  WIFI $-2.250 -25.00% 485,951 43.77% 624,254 56.22% -138,303 -615
  GSFVF $-0.890 -26.89% 410,098 28.25% 571,330 39.35% -161,232 -1,812
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SEM with a dollar loss Thursday of $-3.35000 and a Friction Factor of -248 shares. That means that it only took 248 more shares of selling than buying to move SEM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
