August 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3959 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3406 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1951 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Vitesse Semiconductor Corp (NASDAQ:VTSS), Ducommun Inc (NYSE:DCO), Fossil Inc (NASDAQ:FOSL), BroadSoft Inc (NASDAQ:BSFT), Federal National Mortgage Association (OTC:FNMAT), Crumbs Bake Shop Inc (NASDAQ:CRMB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  VTSS $0.410 18.72% 141,977 50.91% 136,895 49.09% 5,082 124
  DCO $2.770 28.44% 102,151 35.38% 99,760 34.55% 2,391 9
  FOSL $22.670 32.48% 3,577,326 51.15% 3,336,672 47.70% 240,654 106
  BSFT $9.050 32.45% 3,581,736 49.41% 3,481,150 48.02% 100,586 111
  FNMAT $0.340 18.28% 87,162 44.97% 43,600 22.49% 43,562 1,281
  CRMB $1.360 66.34% 747,856 50.97% 698,643 47.61% 49,213 362
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VTSS with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.41000 and a Friction Factor of 124 shares. That means that it only took 124 more shares of buying than selling to move VTSS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
