August 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3959 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3406 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1951 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Nautilus Inc (NYSE:NLS), Fuel Tech Inc (NASDAQ:FTEK), STANDARD CHARTERED.5 (OTC:SCBFF), Algoma Central Corp (NYSE:ALC), Entertainment Gaming Asia Inc (AMEX:EGT), US SILVER CORP (OTC:USSIF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NLS $-0.700 -20.90% 338,966 29.84% 393,839 34.66% -54,873 -784
  FTEK $-0.620 -11.25% 158,218 49.26% 162,773 50.68% -4,555 -73
  SCBFF $-3.150 -14.06% 74,846 23.24% 78,196 24.28% -3,350 -11
  ALC $-2.880 -26.74% 500,958 20.98% 990,912 41.50% -489,954 -1,701
  EGT $-0.320 -11.65% 63,525 30.01% 66,738 31.53% -3,213 -100
  USSIF $-0.182 -10.58% 73,476 28.01% 104,100 39.69% -30,624 -1,683
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NLS with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.70000 and a Friction Factor of -784 shares. That means that it only took 784 more shares of selling than buying to move NLS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
