August 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3725 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3198 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1833 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Sohu.com Inc (NASDAQ:SOHU), Standard Motor Products Inc (NYSE:SMP), NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:NIHD), Changyou.com Ltd (NASDAQ:CYOU), Ibio Inc (AMEX:IBIO), Reed's Inc (NASDAQ:REED). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SOHU $5.750 16.57% 1,712,450 54.73% 1,371,225 43.82% 341,225 593
  SMP $3.110 22.10% 205,786 34.72% 178,856 30.18% 26,930 87
  NIHD $1.050 15.49% 8,623,505 54.25% 7,103,849 44.69% 1,519,656 14,473
  CYOU $3.620 18.69% 934,003 52.15% 807,395 45.08% 126,608 350
  IBIO $0.210 19.28% 227,722 39.78% 181,572 31.72% 46,150 2,198
  REED $0.730 17.10% 210,930 60.49% 137,185 39.34% 73,745 1,010
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SOHU with a dollar gain Monday of $5.75000 and a Friction Factor of 593 shares. That means that it only took 593 more shares of buying than selling to move SOHU higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
