August 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3725 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3198 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1833 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Canalaska Uranium Ltd (NASDAQ:CVV), SMART TECHNOLOGIES INC - A (NASDAQ:SMT), STANDARD CHARTERED.5 (OTC:SCBFF), Algoma Central Corp (NYSE:ALC), Knight Capital Group Inc (NYSE:KCG), Oxford Resource Partners LP (NYSE:OXF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  CVV $-0.890 -8.16% 70,637 40.40% 102,814 58.81% -32,177 -362
  SMT $-0.150 -9.68% 83,594 36.81% 143,291 63.10% -59,697 -3,980
  SCBFF $-2.200 -8.94% 129,297 23.58% 189,768 34.61% -60,471 -275
  ALC $-2.090 -16.25% 171,969 28.63% 187,462 31.21% -15,493 -74
  KCG $-0.970 -23.95% 28,503,741 32.10% 32,023,161 36.07% -3,519,420 -36,283
  OXF $-1.070 -12.71% 90,809 31.76% 104,725 36.63% -13,916 -130
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CVV with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.89000 and a Friction Factor of -362 shares. That means that it only took 362 more shares of selling than buying to move CVV lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
