Market Maker Surveillance Report. MX, NILE, ATPG, GNK, XWES, KCG, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, August
August 3, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3860 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4047 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1544 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Methanex Corp (NYSE:MX), Blue Nile Inc (NASDAQ:NILE), ATP Oil And Gas Corp (NASDAQ:ATPG), Genco Shipping and Trading Ltd (NYSE:GNK), World Energy Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:XWES), Knight Capital Group Inc (NYSE:KCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MX $2.000 19.40% 292,262 36.80% 215,969 27.20% 76,293 381 NILE $8.250 34.74% 904,395 49.51% 879,938 48.17% 24,457 30 ATPG $0.260 23.46% 1,761,031 51.90% 1,571,114 46.31% 189,917 7,305 GNK $0.730 24.33% 992,197 34.55% 891,895 31.06% 100,302 1,374 XWES $0.660 22.45% 43,752 55.56% 34,890 44.31% 8,862 134 KCG $1.450 56.20% 41,838,180 34.82% 37,939,459 31.57% 3,898,721 26,888Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MX with a dollar gain Friday of $2.00000 and a Friction Factor of 381 shares. That means that it only took 381 more shares of buying than selling to move MX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
