Big Rock Brewery Inc. Announces 2012 Second Quarter Financial Results

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 3, 2012) -Big Rock Brewery Inc. (TSX:BR) ("Big Rock" or the "the Brewery") announced its financial results today for the quarter ended June 30, 2012. The total volume of sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 was 61,615 hectolitres ("hl"), an increase of 2 percent compared to the second quarter in 2011.

Big Rock was able to increase sales for the quarter of its premium signature offerings, including the innovative beers introduced as part of the Brewmaster's Edition. Growth in sales volumes for the quarter also came from consumer-driven demand for value-priced brands.

Net income for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 was $1.7 million compared to $0.6 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2011. Operating profit was $2.3 million compared to $0.8 million for the second quarter of 2011. The improvement in operating profit resulted from higher revenue on increased sales as well as reduced selling expenses.
