July 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4123 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2504 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2799 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. USA Mobility Inc (NASDAQ:USMO), ANADIGICS Inc (NASDAQ:ANAD), Coach Inc (NYSE:COH), Southern Pacific Resource Corp (NYSE:STP), LogMeIn Inc (NASDAQ:LOGM), Talon Therapeutics Inc (OTCBB:TLON). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  USMO $-2.400 -17.70% 260,832 43.82% 326,801 54.90% -65,969 -275
  ANAD $-0.310 -19.75% 753,524 47.13% 843,650 52.77% -90,126 -2,907
  COH $-11.280 -18.62% 9,666,250 29.04% 10,021,452 30.11% -355,202 -315
  STP $-0.250 -18.66% 2,472,205 29.60% 3,559,451 42.62% -1,087,246 -43,490
  LOGM $-5.440 -22.30% 1,812,669 47.36% 1,901,602 49.69% -88,933 -163
  TLON $-0.550 -31.07% 475,623 27.47% 862,271 49.81% -386,648 -7,030
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows USMO with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-2.40000 and a Friction Factor of -275 shares. That means that it only took 275 more shares of selling than buying to move USMO lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
