July 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4123 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2504 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2799 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. James River Coal Co (NASDAQ:JRCC), Rudolph Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:RTEC), Dorman Products Inc (NASDAQ:DORM), Virtusa Corp (NASDAQ:VRTU), DineEquity Inc (NYSE:DIN), ZELTIQ Aesthetics Inc (NASDAQ:ZLTQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  JRCC $0.330 16.84% 1,828,604 53.06% 1,613,606 46.82% 214,998 6,515
  RTEC $1.640 19.44% 703,056 48.71% 688,704 47.71% 14,352 88
  DORM $3.840 15.43% 216,891 49.88% 216,501 49.79% 390 1
  VRTU $2.430 19.12% 124,259 57.90% 85,300 39.74% 38,959 160
  DIN $7.120 15.42% 185,932 32.68% 167,195 29.39% 18,737 26
  ZLTQ $0.790 18.16% 244,681 51.79% 226,566 47.96% 18,115 229
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows JRCC with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.33000 and a Friction Factor of 6,515 shares. That means that it only took 6,515 more shares of buying than selling to move JRCC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
