July 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3685 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1465 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4109 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. General Motors Co (NYSE:GM), Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), Amazon.Com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), Cadence Design Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CDNS), Invesco Ltd (NYSE:IVZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GM $-0.300 -1.55% 3,669,776 45.16% 1,943,674 23.92% 1,726,102 Abnormal
  RAD $-0.020 -1.68% 5,277,281 66.52% 1,401,855 17.67% 3,875,426 Abnormal
  AMZN $-2.910 -1.29% 3,836,573 77.83% 1,087,207 22.05% 2,749,366 Abnormal
  ORCL $-0.350 -1.18% 12,789,461 54.65% 10,360,673 44.28% 2,428,788 Abnormal
  CDNS $-0.250 -2.14% 4,195,697 62.08% 2,562,356 37.91% 1,633,341 Abnormal
  IVZ $-0.520 -2.45% 4,452,880 45.52% 2,319,628 23.71% 2,133,252 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GM with 1,726,102 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.30000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
