July 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3873 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1314 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4218 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Medgenics Inc (OTCBB:MDGN), AspenBio Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:APPY), Airmedia Group Inc (NASDAQ:AMCN), Trovagene Inc (NASDAQ:TROV), ZHAOJIN MINING INDUSTRY - H (OTC:ZHAOF), Supernus Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SUPN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MDGN $-1.530 -10.77% 35,300 31.85% 35,567 32.09% -267 -2
  APPY $-0.220 -11.41% 56,183 46.43% 60,050 49.63% -3,867 -176
  AMCN $-0.350 -16.91% 37,669 48.37% 45,204 58.05% -7,535 -215
  TROV $-0.450 -13.85% 42,124 39.00% 63,677 58.96% -21,553 -479
  ZHAOF $-0.140 -10.47% 37,500 17.46% 177,320 82.54% -139,820 -9,966
  SUPN $-1.680 -12.67% 67,972 46.66% 77,207 53.00% -9,235 -55
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MDGN with a dollar loss Monday of $-1.53000 and a Friction Factor of -2 shares. That means that it only took 2 more shares of selling than buying to move MDGN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
