On Wednesday there were 3894 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3156 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2180 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BSX $-0.070 -1.24% 4,701,135 34.73% 3,354,388 24.78% 1,346,747 Abnormal AVP $-0.230 -1.40% 3,732,699 37.46% 2,347,249 23.56% 1,385,450 Abnormal CMVT $-0.110 -1.99% 3,844,264 77.86% 1,093,004 22.14% 2,751,260 Abnormal FITB $-0.140 -1.01% 4,623,187 55.71% 3,649,129 43.97% 974,058 Abnormal ALU $-0.020 -1.80% 9,479,087 43.04% 7,491,181 34.02% 1,987,906 Abnormal ROVI $-7.690 -43.57% 15,799,000 50.20% 13,986,238 44.44% 1,812,762 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BSX with 1,346,747 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.07000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
