July 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3938 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2211 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3045 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Alpha Natural Resources Inc (NYSE:ANR), Ctrip.Com International Ltd (NASDAQ:CTRP), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (NYSE:TSM), First Horizon National Corp (NYSE:FHN), Powershares Qqq Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  ANR $-0.780 -10.22% 9,850,565 36.06% 8,686,773 31.80% 1,163,792 Abnormal
  CTRP $-0.260 -1.73% 2,307,147 65.51% 1,213,098 34.44% 1,094,049 Abnormal
  GE $-0.190 -0.96% 11,928,754 34.19% 8,630,585 24.74% 3,298,169 Abnormal
  TSM $-0.210 -1.63% 4,916,555 35.83% 3,865,392 28.17% 1,051,163 Abnormal
  FHN $-0.160 -1.81% 3,273,181 42.96% 1,732,579 22.74% 1,540,602 Abnormal
  QQQ $-0.160 -0.25% 14,383,821 52.25% 12,886,404 46.81% 1,497,417 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ANR with 1,163,792 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.78000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
